Getting
around town isn’t a problem in Grand Island, which offers many
public transportation choices, from bus to taxi to air service.
The Central Nebraska Regional Airport offers three arrivals and departures
a day, Monday through Friday, plus three arrivals and departures Saturday
and Sunday between Grand Island and Kansas City — some flights
are via Omaha.
Mesa Airlines, doing business as U.S. Airways Express offers flights
to and from Grand Island to Omaha and then on to Kansas City and a
direct flight from Grand Island to Kansas City Mondays through Fridays.
Mesa Airlines also has a codeshare agreement with Midwest Airlines,
which offers connections to Midwest’s 44 daily departures from
its hub in Kansas City.
Eppley Express (800-888-9793) offers shuttle rides to and from Lincoln
Municipal Airport and Omaha’s Eppley Airfield.
The shuttle leaves from the Bosselman Travel Center at Highway 281
and Interstate 80, at the Grand Island/Hastings exit, with one daily
departure and two departures on Tuesday and Friday.
Passenger bus service is provided in Grand Island by Burlington Trailways
and Arrow Stageline Blackhills at 3231 Ramada Road (382-1810).
Action Cab, 702 W. First, offers taxi service 24 hours a day, seven
days a week, and can be reached at 381-1010.
Grand Island passengers also can catch the train at an Amtrak station
in nearby Hastings. A daily eastbound train and a westbound train
runs through the Hastings station at 501 W. First. Amtrak can be reached
