A service of the Grand Island Independent
Grand Island offers an abundance of quality parks

Shooting sportsmen got some new stomping grounds in Grand Island last year.

The Heartland Shooting Park, which opened in the summer of 2005 near West Husker Highway and Alda Road, offers expanded fields for sporting clay, skeet and trap shooting.

The park is owned by the Grand Island Parks and Recreation Department and is operated by the Heartland Public Shooting Park Club. The club is open to the public and members receive discounts on shooting fees.

For more information about joining the club, contact club president Kent Coen at 384-0130 or 384-6463.

Parks and Recreation also has a popular frisbee golf course at Stolley Park. Participants throw frisbees to hit markers, much like the traditional golfer hitting a ball toward a hole.

The department strives to provide quality parks and activities for Grand Island residents. For more information, call 385-5457.
