Information ranging from proper nutrition to identifying strange pests on corn stalks can be found at the Hall County Cooperative Extension office at College Park (385-5088).

The Hall County Extension office part of the University of Nebraska Cooperative Extension helps local residents use research-based information to address issues and needs related to the community, environment, family, farms and ranches, health and living, yard and garden, and youth.

Extension educators and assistants are available to provide answers to many everyday questions. They also offer educational opportunities, such as workshops and conferences, on a wide range of topics.

Examples of past workshops or seminars:

* Teaching homemakers about nutrition and restaurant and food service managers about food safety.

* Offering Kids College, a series of summer workshops for children.

* Demonstrating how to preserve a garden harvest.

Other programs focus on enhancing water quality, strengthening rural communities, waste and livestock management, conservation of natural resources and the environment, 4-H and youth development, special drought programs tailored for irrigated and dryland farmers and livestock producers and pesticide safety.

Available to serve Hall Countians are four Extension educators and two assistants. They are Tom Drudik, agriculture; Jim Hruskoci, horticulture and agriculture; D'Ette Scholtz, family and consumer sciences; Cami Wells, family and consumer sciences, food and nutrition education programs; Christy Burnett, 4-H; and Linda Ramsey, associate.
