During the summer and fall months, two farmers' markets in Grand Island offer fresh fruits and vegetables, as well as other food products.
A popular farmers' market is located in the shady area west of Ace Hardware, 1704 W. Third. From mid-June through October, the market has an abundance of fresh produce, as well as autumn and holiday decor.
The Ace Hardware market is open early in the morning until late afternoon, seven days a week.
The Downtown Market, located on the block between First and Division streets and Walnut and Wheeler streets, offers fresh fruits, veggies and plants, as well as home-grown meat products, home-baked goodies, crafts and other items.
The downtown market is open Saturdays, from 8 a.m. through 1 p.m. It is open from June through September.
Between them, the two farmers' markets offer almost all vegetables grown in Nebraska, as well as fruits such as peaches, apples, melons, cherries and organic meats and eggs.
