Central Community College-Grand Island, College Park and Bellevue University provide the primary opportunities for post-secondary education in Grand Island.
Central Community College is a two-year college that emphasizes vocational and technical education in a 25-county area covering most of Central Nebraska. CCC offers also two-year courses for students who plan to transfer credits to four-year colleges and universities.
CCC has two training coordinators to work with business and industry in the Tri-Cities area. They work in areas such as employee training and other educational programs tailored to meet each firm's specific needs.
CCC also offers the Trio grant, which is a federal grant that provides services and support to first-generation, first-time college students. That can include financial aid and services such as tutoring for students who are the first in their family to attend college.
The Grand Island Campus is located at 3134 W. Highway 34. Campuses also are located in Hastings and Columbus, with Kearney, Holdrege and Lexington having educations centers that offer educational programming as well.
CCC-Grand Island provides Adult Basic Education, a GED program and English as a Second Language (ESL) for adults at St. Stephen's Community Center, 410 W. Second.
College Park, Highway 34 and Highway 281, offers classes and programs from a consortium of Nebraska colleges and universities that includes Central Community College-Grand Island Campus, Doane College, University of Nebraska Medical Center and the University of Nebraska-Lincoln Cooperative Extension.
CCC offers freshman and sophomore level courses at College Park. Doane College offers junior- and senior-level courses, as well as graduate level programs.
In 2004, CCC and Doane signed an agreement creating a "2 Plus 2" program. In the program, students can take their first two years through Central Community College and their final two years from Doane College to earn a Doane degree in specified degree programs.
The University of Nebraska Medical Center provides mini-medical schools for the general public, a medical laboratory technologist program in cooperation with St. Francis Medical Center and programs for the local medical community.
The Central Nebraska Area Health Education Center (CN-AHEC) started in February 2002. It promotes careers in health care.
College Park also offers a performing arts series for the community in the Hornady-Marshall Theater. As part of that series, performances also are given to elementary and middle school students.
GILT, or Grand Island Little Theatre, has a permanent home in the Hornady-Marshall Theater. GILT is Grand Island's community theater group.

Bellevue University offers eight accelerated bachelor of science degree programs, a masters of arts degree program in leadership, a master of science in human services from the Grand Island Campus of Central Community College.
The accelerated bachelor programs are for people who have an associate degree or 60 hours of college credit.
Those who meet that requirement can earn a bachelor's degree in an additional 15 months of study through the accelerated program. Bachelor degrees are available in criminal justice administration, management, business administration of technical studies, business information systems, healthcare management, human and social services administration, human resources management and marketing management.
