The Central Nebraska Regional Airport, under the leadership of the Hall County Airport Authority, will have completed $48 million in FAA airport improvement projects in the past five years and upcoming two years.
Projects completed and ongoing include a ramp, apron and runway reconstruction. The installation of the Runway Visual Range (RVR) indicator will make Grand Island one of two airports in Nebraska that has this type of precision equipment.
By the year 2007 both major runways and the entire ramp surface will be completely replaced.
The airport will also be the home of a new Army National Guard Chinook Helicopter Base facility slated to begin construction in the spring of 2006.
